(San Francisco, California)…Hamburg Süd announces a vessel swap in its Pacific Coast - Pacific Island Service.
“Cap Papatele” has been phased in at Papeete, Tahiti to replace the “Cap Taputapu” which has left the service.
Continuing the Hamburg Süd tradition of naming ships after geographical landmarks, the “Cap Papatele” takes its name from Cape Papatele in Fitiuta County, Manu’a, American Samoa. The Samoan translation for “Papatele” can be interpreted as “solid foundation”, indicative of our commitment to this trade.
Hamburg Süd provides fortnightly sailings from Long Beach and Oakland directly to Papeete / Tahiti, Apia / Samoa and Pago Pago / American Samoa.
