Emergency Equipment Imbalance Surcharge
North European ports (excl. UK) to all Mediterranean destinations
Dear customer,
Due to a severe imbalance between exports and imports in all North European ports, and as situation is expected to last, Hamburg Süd is introducing an Emergency Equipment Imbalance Surcharge (EIS) from North European ports (excl. UK) to all Mediterranean destinations in order to meet the growing demand for empty containers.
The EIS will apply to all containers exported from North Europe that will be loaded from March 1st 2020 until further notice. The amount will be as follows, payment following freight:
USD/EUR 25 per TEU for DRY cargo ex Baltic and Russia
USD/EUR 50 per TEU for DRY cargo ex all remaining North European ports (excl. UK)
USD/EUR 150 per container for REEFER cargo ex all North European ports (excl. UK)
