United States to Australia - Mandatory Treatment Requirements for North America Export Cargo to Prevent the Importation of Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs

(Morristown, N.J.)…The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) has updated their guidelines and instructions covering mandatory pre-shipment fumigation requirements to protect against brown marmorated stink bugs over the 2020 – 2021 high risk season.

These measures apply to goods shipped from September 1, 2020 (date of shipment from origin port) that arrive in Australian territory by May 31st, 2021 (inclusive).

Goods shipped between September 1, 2020 and April 30, 2021 need to be treated and will be referred for intervention if they arrive by May 31, 2021 (inclusive).

We would encourage all of our clients moving ‘target high risk’ goods to familiarize themselves with the DAWR guidelines, and to ensure their suppliers comply with any offshore mandatory treatment conditions before the September 1st deadline.
