(Morristown, N.J.)… Heavy congestion at Sydney terminals and container depots continue to impact supply chains. We are currently experiencing significant vessel delays with waiting times of up to 19 days due to a combination of factors including adverse weather and industrial actions.
We have tried to manage the situation as best as possible however the need to protect vessel schedules and berthing windows has required multiple Sydney port omissions and our operational costs have increased significantly as a result.
To enable continued supply chain service both to and from Sydney, Hamburg Süd will be introducing a Port Congestion Surcharge of US$350/teu on all Sydney import and export containers. This surcharge applies to both standard and refrigerated containers.
Sydney to/from U.S.A.
We appreciate that the congestion levels in Sydney are placing significant strain on supply chains and we remain committed to connect your cargo both to and from Sydney. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of the latest developments.
Please contact your Hamburg Süd representative with any questions that you may have.
