(Florham Park, NJ)…Due to the increasingly challenging operational environment we currently face in New Zealand, we are regularly having revised ‘operating rules’ imposed on us, to ensure that our ships and services keep moving as effectively as they can.
It is clear, that with so many ships operating on delayed schedules and with increased gaps between them, there is a significant impact on terminal operations and capacity.
Under pressure from Government authorities, the Port of Tauranga recently introduced a strict 72 hour transhipment window for Dangerous Goods Cargo moving though their terminal. Under the current operating circumstances, we are generally unable to comply with this requirement and failure to comply with these regulations, means Hamburg Süd potentially will face heavy fines and immediate evacuation of the units from the terminal.
Regrettably and under these circumstances, we are unable to accommodate any bookings for Dangerous Goods cargo transhipping in Tauranga and any other New Zealand port, until further notice.
Please contact your Hamburg Süd representative with any questions that you may have.
