Hamburg, September 4, 2017. Hamburg Süd is represented again this year at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong from September 6 to 8. The shipping group is showcasing a variety of innovations around the transportation of reefer cargo.
“The transportation of reefer cargo is one of Hamburg Süd’s core competencies,” says Frank Smet, Member of the Executive Board of Hamburg Süd. “As a premium carrier for reefer shipments, we are therefore constantly improving our services.” In the past season, Hamburg Süd enjoyed particular success with the introduction of tailor-made logistics solutions for individual commodities, such as an express service for Chilean cherries on the occasion of Chinese New Year. Again this year, there is a whole string of innovations that includes:
Higher reefer capacity: In the course of the fourth quarter of 2017, ship newbuilds with a particularly high reefer capacity are to be deployed in the EMCS service between Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean.
New SAEC / MESA set-up: Beside a state-of-the art network from South America East Coast into North Europe and the West Mediterranean, the new configuration is tailor-made for connection in Tangier, and therefore offers an extensive coverage of the East Mediterranean and Middle East/Indian subcontinent.
Mangos for North America: Hamburg Süd is the only shipping line that operates a dedicated container terminal in Petrolina, in the São Francisco Valley. The year-round weekly ABUS service (South America East Coast – North America East Coast) connects Salvador and Pecém with Philadelphia and New York.
At Hamburg Süd, a roughly 50-strong, worldwide Global Reefer Competence team works on developing customized solutions for the shipment of fresh fruit and vegetables and advising customers on all questions relating to reefer transportation. Visitors to Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong from September 6 to 8 can find out all about transporting temperature-sensitive cargo at Hamburg Süd’s exhibition booth (Hall 5, 5-E23).
